Installation

A typical network is made up of three key components, those being data cabinet(s), backbone cabling and local cabling; we have extensive experience in all three, either as a complete installation, or as additions/changes to existing networks.

Data cabinets provide the central ‘hub’ for all structured networks, containing equipment such as servers, data/telephone switches, firewalls and routers. Installing the right cabinet at the creation of the network is vital to allow growth and ease of access for general maintenance and/or equipment upgrade; we work in accordance with the tender documentation or in consultation with the client to ensure this happens. Floor standing and wall mounted cabinets, both regular and ‘sound proof’, can be provided. We also offer the rationalisation of existing cabinets to maximise usable space, and the upgrade of cabinets due to expansion. Documentation (equipment layouts, patching schedules, etc) relating to a new cabinet installation, after rationalisation or upgrade can be provided.

Backbone cabling (typically multi-mode and single-mode fibre-optic) links data cabinets, with copper based local cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a) providing network connectivity to the end user. Not only is the correct specification of cable vital to meet needs of the end user, but the way that cabling is installed is just as important. Our engineers are qualified installers, ensuring that all cabling complies with British Standards 6701, 50173 and 50174, which cover the specification, installation, operation and maintenance of network cabling.

All installations are tested as a matter of course, with Level IV testing carried out and the production of full certification when required. Additional documentation relating to the installation, such as outlet location, cabinet layout, initial patching schedule, network schematic, etc., can also be provided.
